i logged onto #za - you were there too - my name was binki - you were known as deja_vu
I met Drewbie on a chat program when that wasn't even cool. It was a dos program called IRC. None of this fancy stuff we have now. The name of the chat room was #za. That would be South Africa! Everyone had nicknames. We didn't go by our real names.
On these pages I used tissue paper, stamps and cut out graphics.

8,000 miles - couldn't keep us apart - and so began the process - of mending my heart
19 years in a really sucky marriage ended and I flew to South Africa to meet my sole mate. Much to my family's dismay I might add. I had never flown in my life and here I was flying out of the country for 3 weeks to be with a stranger. But he wasn't really a stranger. We corresponded for more than a year before I took that flight.
These pages were painted and then I mod podged two map transfers I made. I also used some stamps and some pieces of the african map I showed you. Click picture to enlarge.

laughter and tears - hopes and fears
On these pages I layed down some brown paint and went over it roughly with aqua. I used some torn up dictionary pages and some home made transfers. I then went over it with some really watered down gesso to kind of tie it all together. I stamped some dragonflies on top of it all.

you stood by my side - all of these years
And he has. When you marry a women who is 10 years older with 3 kids, an ex husband and a big family, well.... do I need to explain?
On these pages I put a base coat of aqua on and used a brayer to lightly roll on some brown and some gesso. I used 2 transfers I made from copied photos and added a few stamps. For the white stamps I brushed some gesso on my pallet and dip the stamps in it instead of using an ink pad.

you pull me together - when i fall apart
See explaination above!
On these pages you can tell I used my hands again to smear paint. The hand is one of my drawings that I printed out on paper and cut it out. The picture of me is printed and just tore up. I have added a few stamps as well.

you bring me butterflies - to put in my art
He really did! I came home from work a few weeks ago, walked in my studio and there was a dead butterfly laying on the table. He came in and said he found it in the sunroom laying on the ground and thought maybe I could use it? He brings me all kinds of odd little things :-)
This page is fun. I painted both pages avacado. While the paint was still wet I stroked on some yellow stripes. Whent that was dry I used an acrylic pen to draw the dashed lines. The border around the edges are my thumb prints. I added a dead butterfly and two little stamps. Sometimes... less is more :-)

just one request - that i ask of you
This was the page that I used plastic wrap on. I then used a stamp to create a flowery border. The little pocket is a small envelope that I painted. I forgot to show you what it looks like pulled out. I painted it avacado and stamped the words I Love you on it. Little pockets are a lot of fun. You can hide all kinds of little messages in them ;-) The coin is South African money that I brought back from our last trip.

i'll be your binki - will you be my deja_vu?
Think he'll say yes??
I used the brayer to lightly lay down some aqua over the gesso. I then covered the entire thing with tissue paper. On top of this I painted some hearts. The dragonflies are stamps lightly dipped in paint.

Was THE day! OMG we look so young. I have big hair and he looks like an English rocker!
I just painted this page brown and used ribbon to frame our wedding picture. I cropped out our wedding cake. It was a 3 tier chocolate cake, with chocolate frosting and chocolate roses!! Yummo :-)

I Love You Drewbie
I felt the need to tell him for the millionth time! Around the mirror it says, "The heart wants, what the heart wants. I want you!" A little cheesy, huh?
I painted the entire thing with avacado and went over it lightly with yellow on the brayer. I painted the banner and used stamps for the dragonflies.

Finishing up with how to close it with yarn or string
